Nicola Verlato born in Verona in 1965 is an Italian-American visual artist based in Los Angeles, California. A graduate in architecture from the University of Venice, Nicola is also fully trained in classical music and spent part of his career composing soundtracks for documentaries. He has also worked in stage design and comic books. His fine art though is his most successful venture, and he exhibited in the Italian pavilion of the 2009 Venice Biennale. Nicola applies fine art techniques to modern themes, exploring the romance of subculture and the reality of hooliganism amongst many other topics.
He has shown his work internationally, mainly in Europe (Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway) and the United States, in public and private spaces such as Venice Biennale, Prague Biennale, Laguna Museum, MART, MACRO, Stux Gallery, White Columns, and the Jonathan Levine Gallery.
